FAQ

Sourcing our main raw material from top-class steel manufacturer ,

Wide range of compositions and grades to best suit the application.

Howire’s cold rolling process offers the ability to get the precise steel product as per your needs.. Cold rolling process will increase the steel wire tensile strength, improve hardness, enhance toughness and get better weldability, and lower down the ductility.

Colding rolling process is worked by sending wire rod through a series cold rolling mills to get the desired shape. We have a serious of tooling in house to shape the wire. As passing through each rolling mill, tooling compressed the steel and increased the internal grain structure and increase the tensile strength by 50%. As it reaches the final shape edges, surfaces and mechanical properties are refined to your specifications with accuracy down to 0.001’’ inch. The final product than finally is wound into oscillated wound coils or shearing cut into length bundles to meet your different packaging needs.

Basic process for metal transformation,

Diameter reduction and wire elongation,

Increased strength and reduced ductility.

The cold-rolling process changes the dimensions of the steel material by pressing it in pairs of precision-ground rolls. This method is considered cold because it relies on the friction between the steel and mills to change the stock's width, length and thickness rather than a heat source.

Howire offers cold-rolled steel shapes and cold-finished steel bar products. We will work with you to create solutions for your project specifications. Our cold-rolled steel profiles are beneficial for various industries and offer several advantages over hot-rolled steel and Cold-Drawn Steel Wire.

The Cold-drawing changes the steel's shape and size by pulling the material through a carbide die or turks head. Often, steel will go through cold-rolling first and then cold-drawing to enhance its properties for better performance.

our processing creates minimal scrap, and the cost is lower than it would be to complete the necessary machining yourself.

Better precision: Compared to hot-rolling, cold-rolling creates a more precise end product by preventing warpage and adhering to much tighter tolerances. The accuracy allows Howire to produce cold-rolled steel profiles to customer specifications.

Grain refinement: Cold-rolling enhances the grain in steel.

Smooth surface finish: Steel processed by cold-rolling has a smoother finish as opposed to the rough surface you get from hot-rolling. Profiles with this smooth surface are ideal for various applications.

Howire's cold-rolling process begins with raw steel material in rod form diameter 5.5mm to 26mm. We place the rods through mill stands, also called tandem mills. The mills flatten and elongate the rods. As the steel rods travel through the mill stands, the mills work faster, and the rods continue to increase in length. The finished steel wire comes out of the other end of the final mill stand.

Cold-rolled steel flat wires, shaped wires and larger metal profiles are available in continuous coils with no welds up to 2.3Metric Tons (MT). Howire can also package cold-rolled steel in cut lengths from as short as 200 to 6000millimeters.

Cold-rolled steel is valuable to industries and applications where precision, strength and surface quality are essential. Applications include:

Architectural grates/screens/panels

Automotive components throughout the vehicle

Agriculture and industrial equipment

Appliance/white goods

Metal furniture and hardware

Stamping, coining and machining applications

Energy-related applications

Consumer goods

Howire perform heat treatment either annealing to soften steel for forming applications or hardening and tempering to increase the strength and durability of the steel. Our metallurgists and process engineers will work with you to determine the optimal hardness or tensile properties for your application.

Our main machinery includes:

Shaped wire tandem rolling mills

Flat wire tandem rolling mills

Shaped wire single stand rolling mills (capable of shaped or flat pass)

We take the time to understand your specifications and collaborate with your engineering team to create cost-effective final products.

Shaped wire helps reduce manufacturing waste by crafting near-net shapes for unique applications. We create these bespoke shapes through cold-rolling and then cold-drawing the material through the mill or turks head dies to produce the desired shape. As a result, you get high-performing wire engineered to your exact product specs.

We can also add different edges, materials and processes to the steel to produce application-specific results.

Cost and labor savings over machining and tooling from bar

Consistent material properties
